If you’re travelling soon, here’s a great way to save on airfare from a former airlines employee.

Minkey  is the luckiest little red monkey on the face of the earth!  I actually got to have a wonderful, extended 6-month adventure in England with Minkey Mama’s brother, Brian. We stayed with Brian’s friend, Jo, and her adorable Shetland Sheepdog, Meg in her small row house in the charming village of Marketstow, England.  It’s the same village where her parents live, so we went to have roasted dinners at their house quite a lot and went to pubs a lot with Jo’s friends, and Minkey got to visit Jo at the museum where she works.

In the slideshow below, you will see the Marketstow open-air marketplace, and a picture of the village when it flooded a few years ago. The Minkster had tons of really cool adventures with Jo and Brian checking out the whole region.

We visited Whitby by the Sea that was really beautiful, and the Mink had some of the best pics ever taken of him there.   Jo and Brian bordered on animal abuse when they buried me in some huge rocks on the beach there.  I have a picture of it as proof if anyone want to call the SPCA.

YORK, ENGLAND

We visited one of the coolest towns in England …. York, where Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson presided as Duke and Duchess.  It is extremely beautiful and has a very rich history.  It’s towering Cathedral is said to be the ‘jewel in it’s crown’.  This house of God is awe-inspiring and of breathtaking grandeur, and contains many treasures, among them it’s glorious stained glass windows which are said to be more than half the medieval stained glass in England.  It is considered the finest Gothic cathedral in England.

Another fascinating area of York is called The Shambles. It’s one of  the most famous medieval streets in the country.  The Shambles and Stonegate, where medieval buildings of all shapes and sizes cling together, is one of the most visited sites in England.    York has a long history that dates back to when it was Capital of a British province under the Romans.  It also is one of the most haunted places in all of England.  Ooooooo!  There are buildings from all periods of history, and of special interest are the old city walls which are a fascinating reminder of the age of this great city.  Maybe that’s why there are so many ghosties there.

LONDON, ENGLAND

London is usually the primary destination for tourists.  But Minkey is very special, so it was only a  “side-trip” for him!  You’ll see a few more pix of it in the slideshow below.  We just went around the city and saw the major landmarks, but seeing them in person was pretty awesome even though it was a short trip there.  We wanted to ride the London Eye ferris wheel, but didn’t have time left to do that as we had to catch the train to go back to Marketstow.

ROBIN HOOD’S BAY

Another really interesting place we went was the fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay.  It’s in the skinniest part of England so you can actually walk from coast to coast there.  VERY cool.   At one time, Queen Elizabeth I actually owned some cottages there.

Ins Bay was reportedly a major smuggling community on the Yorkshire coast.   It was once under water, and the fact that it was kind of isolated and protected by some scary looking marshy moorland on three sides,  made it perfect for all the “hoods” that lived and did business there.  They made a lot more $$ than they would have fishing.  lol   Imagine that?

It’s also known to have lots of haunted cottages.   In one of the scariest ones, there’s knocking on the walls at night,  curtains open and close, clothes in the closet fall off the hangers one by one, etc.   Oooooooooo.   Minkey would freak out and run away!

Lots more happened on this trip since Minkey was living in England for a while, but these are the major areas we went to.  For the rest of the pictures, just check out the slideshow below.

Hope you all enjoyed my time in England, and I’ll see you peeps later. Be sure and bookmark me so you can check in frequently.

See ya!   xxxooo  Minkey
