DON’T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE SLIDESHOW BELOW.
Minkey got to go on one of his fav kinds of trips …. one with kids! Whoooo Hooooo! They can keep up with the Mink a lot better than the big people, so he doesn’t get in trouble as much, but it’s still fun! lol
I went to Waco, Huntsville State Park, Lake Conroe, Houston, and Galveston with the Farrells: Carrie, Mandy, Malachi and Jamie, and we had a blast!
In Waco, we went to a huge bridge where they used to have cattle drives. Minkey had a hard time picturing a bunch of cows racing across the bridge. HeeeeeeeHeeeeeee! I couldn’t resist climbing all over the bridge of course, and came very close to tumbling down in the river. They pulled me up just as I was losing my grip. YIKES!!!
We stopped to see a GIGANTIC & HUMONGOUS statue of a historic guy named Sam Houston. I hope he had better eyes in person, because he was wall-eyed … one eye went one way and the 2nd went the other. Maybe he made a good politician because he could see everything happenin’ on both sides of his head! Hahaha! HeeeeeHeeeee! Might be BAD of Minkey, but he couldn’t stop laughing.
Then we went to the hugest and most fun store Minkey had ever seen! It was called Bucee’s (pronounced Buckey’s). It had tons of candy, a deli, fun toys and souvernirs for little Bucaroos and their parents, and a huge fudge shop with more fudge than the Mink has ever seen. He wanted to go and jump in the melted choclate, but even the kids wouldn’t let me do THAT. Jealousy, I’m sure, cos I was the only one little enough to jump in that big bowl. lol!
Carrie, who works with Minkey Mama, bought me a little Bucee’s red cut-off T-shirt with Bucee’s picture on it. Minkey LOVES it when people buy him presents, so he was screeching and posing with Bucee and running around all over the store after he tried it on. Then Bucee himself posed for a pic with Minkey, and Jamie let Minkey put on 2 of her special rings for the pic. FUN!
They had TONS of stuffed animals, and Carrie was afraid the Mink would get mixed up with the uh “stuffed toys” and either someone would buy me, or she would have to pay for me! hehehe . Jamie got a Wooly Mamoth there she named Elle, and Minkey was jealous. He doesn’t like competition. BLAH.
There were also stuffed stick-horses at Bucee’s, and Carrie told the kids they were going horse-back riding and that was the horses! HeeeeHeeeee! Hahahaha! She’s funny.
No one knew that Carrie had a surprise. She had really planned for them to go riding at Huntsville State Park. WHAT A BLAST!! Minkey had become “best buds” with Carrie’s youngest girl, Jamie, so he was sooooo excited to get to ride with her! He started sniffling for a minute because it was scary to be on such a huge, tall animal, but Jamie took great care of him so he calmed down.
We went to Conroe (near Houston) next, and stayed at a resort there. The next morning, we took a walk along the river, and the Mink got to feed the ducks. He was terrified one of those big honking things would run him down and chomp on him with those HUGE beaks. Nooooooo! And you may not know it, but ducks have TEETH!! Little saw teeth inside those big beaks so they can chew on you. So I ran to Jamie so she could protect me. I rode on her back and hung with her the rest of the trip.
Next, we went to downtown Houston. There was a fun little tour bus we went on that took us to City Hall, Tranquility Square, the downtown library, etc. But this was no ordinary library! It was SO cool. It was wild and crazy and did have books, but it also had a lot of fun stuff for kids like a whole area for video games. MINK’S KIND OF LIBRARY!!
Finally, we got to Galveston. The Minkster loves the ocean, but we had a mishap here. MINKEY FELL OFF THE SEAWALL!! Ye Gads and Little Fishes! He was so terrified until they rescued me, that I said a little red minkey prayer after. YOU CAN SEE ALL THIS ON THE SLIDESHOW BELOW.
When I finally got over the shock, we went and ate lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe. That was great. It had a wall of water behind the ‘bar’ there, tons of stuffed animals and fun things and great kids’ food. We had corny dogs that were almost as tall as the Mink! We ate outside, and there was a big bunch of rocks with a sign saying “Don’t Sit on the Rocks”, which of course, pulled me in like a magnet. It’s not a fun trip if the Minkster can’t be bad some!
We at dinner that night at a really good Mexican Grill called Rico’s, and then left for home the next morning. I LOVED travelling with the Farrels, and hope I get to see them again.
Love you, Carrie, Jamie, Malichi and Mandy!!
xxxooooo Minkey
